Did you know?
- Despite their delicate appearance, Smooth Newts produce skin toxins that can deter many predators.
- Smooth Newts can regenerate lost limbs, tails, and even parts of their heart and eyes. During the breeding season, males perform an elaborate courtship dance to attract females. Their larvae, called 'efts', breathe through feathery external gills before metamorphosing into air-breathing juveniles.
