- Snapping turtles can breathe through their skin and the lining of their throat, allowing them to stay submerged for extended periods.
- Snapping turtles rarely bask in the sun like other turtles, preferring to stay submerged. They have incredibly strong jaws capable of delivering a painful bite. Their necks are highly flexible, allowing them to snap at prey or threats with surprising speed.
