Did you know?
- Snow leopards are sometimes called the 'ghosts of the mountains' because of their elusive nature and excellent camouflage.
- Snow leopards have an extraordinary ability to leap horizontally over distances of up to 15 meters, a feat that is unmatched by most other big cats. Despite their name, snow leopards are more closely related to tigers than to leopards, sharing a more recent common ancestor with the former. Unlike many other members of the Panthera genus, snow leopards are solitary creatures, with males and females coming together only briefly for mating. Interestingly, their nasal cavities are enlarged, an adaptation that warms the cold air before it reaches their lungs, crucial for survival in their frigid habitats.
