- Despite their dazzling breeding colors, Southern Red Bishops can transform their appearance dramatically after the season, blending in almost perfectly with their surroundings.
- Male Southern Red Bishops perform elaborate displays, puffing up their feathers and fluttering their wings to attract mates. Their nests are intricately woven spheres, often built in colonies close to one another. Outside of breeding season, their plumage becomes much duller, making them less conspicuous to predators.
