- The 'spectacles' that give the Spectacled Caiman its name are not actual glasses but a bony ridge between its eyes.
- Spectacled Caimans are sometimes called the most adaptable of all crocodilians, thriving in both pristine and disturbed habitats. They are known to bask in the sun to regulate their body temperature, and juveniles often form crèches for protection.
