- Despite living in harsh desert conditions, Uromastyx rarely drink water, obtaining almost all the moisture they need from their plant-based diet.
- Uromastyx can regulate their body temperature by adjusting their exposure to the sun. Their spiny tails are not only a defense mechanism but are also used in territorial displays. Some species can change color slightly depending on temperature and mood.
