- Despite their name and appearance, Sri Lankan Frogmouths are not related to frogs but get their name from their wide, gaping mouths.
- Sri Lankan Frogmouths use their excellent camouflage to avoid predators by remaining perfectly still during the day. Both sexes share incubation duties, with the male often taking the day shift. Their distinctive calls are often described as eerie or haunting, adding a mysterious atmosphere to their forest homes.
