- Striped bass are capable of traveling hundreds of miles upriver from the ocean to spawn in freshwater, often returning to the same river where they were born.
- Striped bass can survive in both saltwater and freshwater environments, making them anadromous. They have been successfully introduced and established in inland lakes and reservoirs far from their native range. During spawning season, a single large female can lay several million eggs in just one season.
