- Despite their name, Sunda Flying Lemurs are not lemurs nor do they truly fly; they belong to their own unique order, Dermoptera.
- A colugo's gliding membrane includes the webs between its fingers and toes and extends to the tail tip, making it the most complete gliding surface of any mammal. Each lower incisor is split into up to twenty comb-like tines, and biologists still argue about what they are for. Colugos are the closest living relatives of primates, despite looking like a kite made of fur. The young are born almost embryonic and ride in a hammock the mother makes by folding her gliding membrane.
