- Despite their name, Sunda Flying Lemurs are not lemurs nor do they truly fly; they belong to their own unique order, Dermoptera.
- Sunda Flying Lemurs can glide over 100 meters in a single leap, steering with their tail and limbs. They have specialized comb-like teeth for scraping soft plant material. Their gliding membrane, called a patagium, is one of the most extensive among mammals.
