- The Superb Parrot is one of only three species in the genus Polytelis, making it a unique and specialized member of the Australian parrot family.
- Superb Parrots are excellent fliers and can cover long distances when foraging. Only the male Superb Parrot displays the characteristic bright yellow face and red throat band. During the breeding season, they nest in tree hollows high above the ground, often returning to the same site year after year.
