- The males' hindleg spurs can deliver a painful pinch if threatened, making them one of the few stick insects with notable defensive adaptations.
- Thorny Devil Stick Insects are capable of regenerating lost limbs during their molting process. Females can lay up to several hundred eggs in their lifetime, often burying them in the soil for protection. Despite their intimidating appearance, they are harmless to humans.
