- Despite their small size, tiger barbs can dominate community tanks if not kept in proper shoals, often outcompeting larger fish for food and space.
- Tiger barbs are shoaling fish that display more vibrant colors and natural behaviors when kept in groups. They are notorious among aquarists for their playful yet aggressive nature, especially toward fish with long or flowing fins. Wild populations display more subdued colors than some of the selectively bred aquarium varieties.
