- Tinfoil barbs are known for their reflective, metallic scales that shimmer under light, resembling tinfoil. They are peaceful by nature but can grow quite large, often outgrowing standard home aquariums. In the wild, their shoaling behavior helps them evade predators and find food more efficiently.
