- Tree kangaroos are so poorly adapted for movement on the ground that they appear awkward and clumsy, in stark contrast to their elegance in the trees.
- Unlike ground kangaroos, tree kangaroos can move their hind legs independently, helping them climb with agility. Their long tails act as counterbalances while navigating branches. Some species can leap up to 18 meters (59 feet) from tree to tree.
