- Unlike many rodents, some tuco-tuco species have one of the highest rates of chromosomal variation among mammals.
- Tuco-tucos can dig tunnels up to 50 meters in length, and their vocalizations can be heard above ground. Some species of tuco-tuco show remarkable chromosomal diversity, making them a subject of scientific interest for evolutionary studies.
