- The Venus Flytrap's trap closes in less than a second—one of the fastest movements in the plant kingdom.
- Venus Flytraps can only close their traps about 3-4 times before the leaf dies. The plant distinguishes between living prey and debris by counting the number of times its trigger hairs are touched. Despite their reputation, Venus Flytraps can go weeks without eating insects, relying on photosynthesis for most of their energy.
