- Unlike many other snappers, Vermilion Snappers lack prominent canine teeth, giving their mouth a less formidable appearance.
- Vermilion Snappers can change their coloration slightly to blend with their surroundings. They are sometimes called 'beeliners' by fishermen due to their habit of quickly darting after prey. Juveniles often school with other snapper species for protection.
