- The Yapok is the only marsupial in the world with both webbed feet and a waterproof pouch, specially adapted for an aquatic lifestyle.
- Yapoks are the only marsupials with webbed feet for swimming. Both males and females have a pouch, which is unique among marsupials. Their fur is extremely dense and water-resistant, helping them stay warm and dry while swimming.
