- The Western Diamondback is responsible for the majority of snakebite incidents in the United States, but fatalities are rare due to prompt medical treatment.
- Western Diamondbacks can control the intensity and duration of their rattle to warn off predators. They are excellent swimmers and can cross rivers when necessary. Their heat-sensing pit organs allow them to detect warm-blooded prey even in total darkness.
