Did you know?
- Despite being called 'whip spiders' and 'tailless whip scorpions,' they are neither true spiders nor true scorpions, but belong to their own unique order, Amblypygi.
- Whip spiders molt several times as they grow, and after molting, they are soft and vulnerable to predators until their exoskeleton hardens. They communicate using their elongated forelegs, which function almost like antennae. Whip spiders exhibit fascinating parental care, with mothers carrying their young on their backs until the spiderlings can fend for themselves.
