Did you know?
- The Northern white rhinoceros subspecies is functionally extinct, with only two known individuals remaining, both of which are females.
- White rhinos communicate through a series of vocalizations, including grunts, snorts, and squeals. Despite their name, they are not actually white; the name derives from a mistranslation of the Afrikaans word 'wijde', meaning 'wide', referring to their wide mouths. They have an excellent sense of smell and hearing, but relatively poor eyesight.
