- The largest recorded white sturgeon weighed over 680 kg (1,500 lbs) and measured more than 6 meters (20 feet) long.
- White sturgeon can live over 100 years and may not spawn until they are 15 to 30 years old. They use their sensitive barbels to detect prey in murky waters. Unlike most fish, they have no scales but instead have rows of hard, bony plates called scutes.
