- The last population of Woolly Mammoths survived on Wrangel Island until about 4,000 years ago, thousands of years after most populations went extinct.
- Woolly Mammoths had specialized blood that helped them survive freezing temperatures. Their tusks could be used for digging through snow to find food, and some individuals had spiral-shaped tusks.
