- Captive Yellow-banded Poison Dart Frogs lose their toxicity because they do not consume the same toxin-producing insects found in their native rainforest environment.
- Yellow-banded Poison Dart Frogs are one of the most vocal of all poison dart frogs, especially during the rainy season. Their toxins are so potent that indigenous peoples have used them to poison the tips of blow darts for hunting. Unlike many other amphibians, they are active during the day.
