- Yellow-billed Hornbills have a symbiotic relationship with dwarf mongooses, often foraging together and warning each other of danger.
- Yellow-billed Hornbills are sometimes called 'flying bananas' due to their distinctive yellow beaks. During nesting, the female is sealed inside the nest cavity with mud and droppings, leaving only a small slit for food delivery by the male. Their call is a loud, cackling laugh that can be heard echoing across the savanna.
