- Despite being aquatic, this turtle is an excellent climber and can sometimes be found perched on roots or low branches above the water.
- Yellow-headed Temple Turtles are known to be released by worshippers at temples as a symbol of merit and compassion. They are among the largest freshwater turtles in Southeast Asia and can grow over 50 cm in shell length. Females are generally larger than males.
